The author, Amir Taheri, has a POV (Pro Shah, Highly Conservative Iranian.) So make sure to measure his statements with that in mind (pro shah remnants in Europe have mostly always been anti-Hamas)

Thanks for the background. I’m familiar with Amir Taheri as he is syndicated in some US newspapers, including the NY Post …. but the site I linked to is known for its anti Israeli slant and we know who owns it. In fact, the other pieces they are featuring today are typically anti Israeli. So the fact that they published Taheri’s perspective at all is a good hint at how the royal family sees hamas. One of the less well-reported aspects of the current mideast turmoil is how the Saudis and Israelis are secretly cooperating in some areas.

Amir Taheri is a wingnut, I would take what he says with a grain of salt. To add to what Randall Gross said, Pro-shah remnants are also virulently anti-Muslim and have no problem supporting the likes of Geller and Spencer.
